Why Ahmed Dangiwa will deliver as Nigeria’s Minister of Housing- HDAN

A pioneer and leading non-governmental housing group in Nigeria HDAN has given reasons why Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa will deliver as minister of Housing and Urban Development.

Executive Director of Housing Development Advocacy Network HDAN, Festus Adebayo disclosed this at the end of a stakeholders dinner for the new minister of housing and his colleague, the honorable minister of state for housing, in Abuja.

According to Adebayo, professional bodies in the built environment have all promised their support for the new minister of housing at the stakeholder level.

“With this, I can tell you that it’s one of the signs for you to know that the person chosen by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has the acceptability of the stakeholders.

“ I must also tell you that his tenure at the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria FMBN which led him to win the heart of many, enabled him to know the problem facing the sector and I can tell you that he has the capacity to move the sector forward.

“During his stay at FMBN, he has good relationships with Federal Housing Authority( FHA),Family Homes Fund, and I believe that being the minister he know how to make these agencies do more in achieving the purpose of their establishment. “

Adebayo added that housing is fundamental in the life of mankind and the ministry Dangiwa is manning today is his supervisory ministry while he was at FMBN, so I can tell you he knows the problem of the ministry and how to solve it.The ministry people are happy to have him back as there boss that will drive renewed hope agenda of Mr President in housing.

“Don’t forget that the prices of the houses built by the ministry are higher than what Dangiwa was financing while at FMBN, and I just want to let you know that Dangiwa will ensure that the objective of the national housing program which could not be actualized especially because of the selling price of the houses will be actualized.

“The national housing program is saddled with 3 major key ingredients in Providing those houses, which are affordability, accessibility, and acceptability. But can we say those houses are affordable? That’s a big challenge, but I am positive that Dangiwa will find a way around it that will now make it accessible and acceptable.

“As he said earlier, he won’t be involved in direct construction, but he has what it takes to ensure that these three features are actualized in the NHP projects ”

Adebayo also described Dangiwa as result-oriented and extremely humble, adding that Dangiwa is aware about those obsolete laws that are affecting our mortgage sector development,i can assure you that we will mobilise stakeholders to support him to get necessary enabling laws for the sector.

“You we’re at the Dinner when also mentioned that one of his priorities as minister of Housing and urban Development will be that of data. The previous minister succeeded in discovering the lies in housing data, but we can assure you that Dangiwa will give us the truth of housing data, judging by his willingness to collaborate with the Nigeria Bureau of Statistics NBS, and National Population Commission NPC, among others.

“Another reason why he will succeed is because he knows those among private developers that have excellent performance record and those that ran away with fmbn money . He has good team with him including Adebayo said.

Adebayo called on all leaders in the sector, stakeholders including all our respected professionals in the ministry to support the renewed hope agenda of the minister
